With the start of the project in 2010, the collection, production and processing of the data required by the tool was done. While holding interactive workshops, numerous meetings and specialized meetings, an attempt was made to create a common understanding of the challenges among the stakeholders and stakeholders of the basin. Side studies such as climate change, spatial data, floor rock map, integrated soil map, land use map, surface water hydrology were conducted. In order to improve the understanding of the interaction of surface and underground water in the basin, the conceptual development and application of the groundwater model were discussed. The introduction and recognition of Zayandeh Rood basin was formed in international communities. Efforts were made to strengthen inter-departmental and trans-departmental cooperation. The basic structure of the WMT management tool was planned. In the second stage (2015-2019) with the availability of a database that was developed in the previous stage, the development of strategies and tools to implement the concept of integrated management of water resources was considered, and the WMT tool with the possibility of generating and processing scenarios Management was provided. At this stage, in addition to management tools, the analysis of the organization of watersheds in Iran and Zayandeh Rood basin was done. Vulnerability and identification of the potential for change and transformation in the agricultural sector were evaluated. Solutions to reduce water consumption and sustainable development of large industries and industrial towns were investigated. The possibility of optimizing the management of drinking water consumption and the operation of urban wastewater treatment plants was analyzed, and in order to transfer knowledge and build scientific capacity, the Iran-Germany Higher Education Center was launched. The third phase of the project, which was stopped for several years and was considered practically unfeasible, was restarted and extended. Training, updating and establishment of integrated management in Zayandeh Rood basin is currently underway.
